Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is performed to close damaged and malfunctioning veins that are responsible for causing varicose veins.

Catheter advanced to treatment area. Vein closes as catheter is withdrawn.

What to Expect

Varicose veins do not function properly and do not return blood back to the heart. The pressure that causes these veins to enlarge can also eventually damage normal surrounding tissue and overlying skin. RFA is used to seal off defective or diseased feeder veins, eliminating the source of surface varicose veins. This treatment is very safe and effective.

Intro to Varicose Veins

Vein care can range from small, unsightly Spider Veins that appear just under your skin to more serious conditions like Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) or Phlebitis that can jeopardize your life.

It’s not just skin deep.

You’re probably familiar with the outward appearance of issues such as varicose veins, lumpy veins, and spider veins, but cosmetics are only part of the problem. Venous issues are well-known, yet complex conditions that require specialized and expert care. Left untreated, even a seemingly commonplace matter such as varicose veins can lead to serious medical problems.

You don’t have to live with painful or potentially dangerous venous conditions. Let the experienced physicians at CVC’s Center for Venous Medicine help you manage these issues and improve your quality of life– and your overall health.
The CVC Center for Venous Medicine specializes in treating various medical and cosmetic issues related to veins. It's specially trained physicians and staff understand venous conditions and diseases, such as:

  • Varicose Veins, Lumpy Veins, and Spider Veins
  • Blood Clots and Phlebitis

  • Non-healing Wounds and Ulcers
  • Venous Insufficiency

  • Leg Edema or Swelling

The doctors at Center for Venous Medicine may recommend Diagnostic Non-Invasive Venous Studies in order to develop the proper treatment or surgical plan. Depending on the type and stage of your vein condition, there are many different treatments available, including:
