An EP study helps your physician locate areas within the heart that may be causing an abnormal rhythm.
What to Expect
A catheter is inserted through your groin and guided through your artery up into your heart. The physician can send impulses to stimulate the heart, allowing the physician to identify what type of heart rhythm problem you may have.
Preparation
You should not eat or drink for 4-6 hours prior to the test and you will need transportation home.
Time
This procedure is done in the hospital and takes anywhere from 2-6 hours. Your physician will discuss the results with you after the procedure.
