GE HEALTHCARE ANNOUNCES 100th INSTALLATION OF VENTRI GAMMA CAMERA AT CARDIOVASCULAR CONSULTANTS LTD

The compact, all-digital, dedicated cardiac camera responds to the clinical need for an easy-to-use system with exception image quality, centered on patient comfort.

NEW ORLEANS, MARCH 26, 2007 -- GE Healthcare announced today the installation of the 100th Ventri nuclear cardiology imaging system at Cardiovascular Consultants Ltd (CVC). The announcement of this milestone for the Ventri, reached less than 15 months after its market release, was made at the 56th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) meeting, March 24 – 27 in New Orleans.

GE’s Ventri is a compact, advanced imaging system that offers exceptional image quality while simultaneously maximizing patient comfort. The Ventri fits down hallways and through doorways as narrow as 32 inches (81cm) and weighs less than 2500 lbs. (1133kg) enabling an average installation of only two days.

“We wanted a robust, advanced imaging system to accommodate our workflow and meet our installation requirements,” said Diane Fogell, RN, BSN, Clinical Operations Director, CVC. “With eight to 10 patients per day and growing, we were attracted to the Ventri’s ease of use. Our plan to site the Ventri on the 3rd floor of our building and not incur additional rigging and construction cost was possible because of the system’s compact size.”
Ventri has a full range of user-friendly features that add up to fast, efficient, comfortable workflow. No bending to see in the gantry, no straining to see the screen. The ECG trigger is mounted right on the table and with memorized previous scan parameters second scans are easy, quick, and consistent.
“Bringing together this advanced technology with a small footprint enables cardiologists to see and treat patients more effectively in the comfort of their office,” said Gene Saragnese, vice president and general manager of the company’s Molecular Imaging and CT business, GE Healthcare.
With a focus on patient comfort, the Ventri helps reduce patient motion, which positively impacts image quality, clinical efficiency and diagnostic confidence.

“At CVC patient comfort is the cornerstone of our practice,” said Andrei Damian, M.D., president of Cardiovascular Consultants, Ltd. “The Ventri offers this comfort and at the same time, uncompromised image quality.”
